The excellent quality of Hochheim wines relies largely on the very warm southern location protected from winds. The low terrain of 80 to 130 m above sea level also allows the grapes a long and constant period in which to ripen. Yet despite the common southerly location, each of the top vineyards, starting in the west with „Reichestal“ then „Stielweg“ and „Domdechaney“ to „Kirchenstück“ and „Hölle“ in the east, has its own very individual character.
